Students in 7th grade science classes are learning about structures in a cell. Students were given the opportunity to create either an animal or plant cell using food. Students had the option to choose between a plant or animal cell. Teachers explain this encouraged students to think through the shape of their cell and how it would affect whether it was a plant or animal as animal cell. Animal cells are more rounded and plant cells are square or rectangular. This model enables students to visualize the structures and their locations. Click here for photos from the science lesson.
